Ruby Chocolates' Journey To Our Stomach

Image
Do you like chocolate? There are many flavors of chocolates in the market. The three main ones are milk, dark and white chocolate. Milk chocolate is sweet and soft, dark chocolate is bitter and white chocolate is oily and sugary. We already know these, but do you know ✨ ruby✨ chocolate?     Ruby chocolate is not as old as dark chocolate. Nearly 80 years later after presenting of white chocolate, it is presented by the world-famous cacao and chocolate producer company Barry Callebaut in 2017. Ruby chocolate takes its pink color from nature. It doesn't have any colorants and tastes like raspberry and blueberry. The ruby cacao seeds give them their pink color. Also it has more serotonin and caffeine than white ones:) Ruby chocolates are discovered by Barry Callebaut's cacao expert. The company and Jacobs University started the research that will last 13 years. After improving processes, they start to grow them in Ecuador, Brazil and Ivory Coast. On Sep...

A Playful And Lay-ful Playlist For Every Me

I noticed that I haven't written anything about music. I cannot play any instruments, except a recorder that I have had to learn at school. Actually I like composing music on the phone with some basic apps, but it was just a hobby. I have mentioned that I am interested in the Korean language, culture and music. So, my playlist mostly consists of Korean and English based music. I will also add some Turkish songs that my parents and friends suggested to me. I also like classical music which consists of some violin and piano elements. Although I don't have much repertoire in classical music, I might not add every amazingly produced songs. I am making up together many songs here in a short time, so probably I won't be able to remember all of them, especially those foreign songs that I used to listen on the radio when I was a child. I will also write down some songs which don't have good lyrics but have good instrumentals, at least for me. You may not have the same taste wi...

Melody of the Clouds | Episode 1

An exhausting day at school, then hanging out with friends tired her. The telephone sound woke Melody up, who was calling at this hour? She picked up the phone with sleepy eyes, the number was her dad, but a stranger was speaking on the other side. She asked for her father while narrowing down the possibilities. "Or did his illness come around again? I'm sure his illness brought back to him...My God..." She looked back on old days. Memories occurred to her. The stranger cleared up her mind. "...you were on your father's emergency call list, you're his daughter, right? You must come here now. We are at..." Melody burst into tears, dropped her phone. After some time, she thought that she cannot stay like this, and have to wake up to the situation before sadness brings about her passing out. She stood up and wiped up her tears. She ended up preparing the suitcase in her room.     She looked at the phone with emotional eyes when there is little time lef...

Why Our Teeth Come Out Twice?

Image
Our teeth do most things for us. They get tired all day. If we look from this perspective, everything seems normal, huh? Have you ever thought about why our teeth come out twice? Do we really need a new set of teeth? Before our permanent teeth, milk teeth come out. After their coming out, they grow and drop within a few years. So people think that they are not so necessary. But it's just an assumption. Milk teeth are important for permanent teeth's growth and correct coming out. If a person doesn't take good care of their teeth, it may cause some problems in the future. Teeth start to grow when mom is pregnant. A normal person has 20 milk teeth, which have 5 to 9 years durabiliyt. They are not long-lasting, they start to consume away about 3 years later. If children lost teeth early or late, side teeth move to the empty place and close it. When permanent teeth want to come out, they face a big handicap for their hello to the world. So tooth changes other teeth's places ...

How To Make Sakarya's Pumpkin Pie

Image
Hello, today I will give you a dessert recipe for your winter months. This dessert is known as Sakarya's favorite dessert for its pumpkin production. And you know, I am from Sakarya, and I am in love with pumpkin dessert. Let's make it. Firstly, you need to pick a good pumpkin from market, maybe from your garden. You peel the cover of pumpkin and largely dice them. After you wash it, put them to pan and add sugar on top. Wait for a while and cook them in the oven. Don't close the cover, or it will run over. Cook until it softens, and rest for cooling. Before resting, if it has watered more, you can put it into oven. According to your taste, you can serve with cream, walnut or sesame paste. You can also set apart its seeds, and after it dries, you can eat them. It is an addictive activity, so be careful. Here are the ingredients for six people recipe.

Best Friends That So Different

I used to have many friends, but some are special to me. Not everyone could be my best friend. All my best friends' only common feature is their friendship with me:) If I look into my friends behaviours, appearance and thoughts, they are mostly different.  I don't know how to called it, maybe, attraction of polar spirits. Such as, my first follower here, Yarensu. She is smart and likes science. Unlike me, she is good at mathematics and physics. Her close friend, also mine, Kevser is the same. She is doing well on numerical lessons. Or my the closest friend from Elazig, Yagmur is a truly a music person. Actually, I like music too but I'm not so into it to become a musician or a violinist for now. My desire is for arts. Although Yaren and Kevser have best friends among four of us, like Yagmur and me, we are still connected to each other no matter what. Even if we separated each other by my departure, I can still feel the connection ropes inside myself. Choosing friends is im...

sjksjsakdj | Typing Laughing in Different Languages

"sjksjsakdj? What are you talking about?" Are these your inner voice? If you don't know these then you can't be Turkish.  Turkish=adsfdfsd/kdklsdj/sjsksjss These random letters are used in Turkish messages to symbolize laughing. I think random gives the meaning of "I am laughing so much that even I can't press letters so I just tap them randomly." At least for me:) Unlike in English, if you write ha ha ha , or something like this, it doesn't seem convincing as random .  In some memes, "sj" or "s and j" is used for kidding. English=lol/lmao/haha There are many ways to write in English but these are the most common ones. LOL means Laughing Out Loud, LMAO and LMFAO, of course i won't write their explanation. LOL. French=mdr In French, "mdr" means "mort de rire" which means "died of laughter". In France and Belgium, some people use "ptdr" which means "broken with laughter". Other...

ɛʤəˈkeɪʃən ˈsɪstəm | A short story about my incomprehension

I don't understand why there are perfect tenses in English. I mean, they are so unnecessary for me. I will just use them to pass language exams. What about the future perfect tenses? Even the native speakers don't use it unless they don't mail a letter to President. I don't understand our country's education system, too. If this knowledge won't be useful in our future lives, then why we are learning them and sitting for exams. Just a simple example, we take several exams after we graduate. They are called YKS all in. It includes two different and difficult tests; Basic Proficiency Test(TYT) for 9th and 10th grade knowledge, and Field Proficiency Test(AYT) for 11th and 12th grade. We select a field according to our future job predictions in the 10th grade's 2nd term. They are math and science, literature, liberal arts and literature, and foreign language. Unless you think why that Turkish girl is writing blogs in English, you can understand that I have selec...

South Korea Tour Part 1 | My To-Go List

Image
I have interest on South Korea for a long time. In this time, I have been learning about their language, culture and music. Even though I gave a break for my school, I still research sometimes. In this blog, I am going to jot down some places in South Korea from my to-go list:) Gyeongbokgung Palace (경복궁) The magnificent building complex whose name means "Western Palace" in English, is the most important building not only in the city but also the whole country. The palace was built in the late 14th century by King Taejo, the founder of the Joseon Dynasty . The building complex, which was used as a royal palace until 1592, was badly damaged during the Japanese invasion and remained empty for 300 years. When King Gojong rebuilt the palace in 1865, the palace regained its glory again. Bukchon Hanok Village (북촌 한옥 마을) Bukchon Hanok Village, located between Gyeongbokgung and Changdeokgung, is a good example of South Korean civil architecture. Visitors learn about the culture thanks...

Today we started to make ceramic pots in Bilsem. I had made them before too. So i was familiar with it. I am going to draw miniatures on it. I also like doing miniatures and border decorations ( tezhip ), and had done before. Today I will give you some information about miniatures' history, making, examples etc. Before we step into the details, you have to understand what is miniature. Miniature is a traditional painting art with a very finely processed, small sized and unique painting technique. The people who make this art are called Nakkaş . Miniatures are very small in size because they are applied to depict people and events for visualize texts in books. In this art, the rules of lighting, proportion and perspective aren't applied mostly. Distance is ignored. The person or place that is important in miniature is drawn in larger and more detailed way compared to other things. There is a lot of d...

Leonardo da Vinci From Different Perspectives

Image
Leonardo da Vinci is an important symbol in the Renaissance , which is the new beginning of history of science and thoughts. He lived between 1453 and 1519, in Florence, Milan, Amboise and more. When it was realized that there was very little information about nature, researches were started in science, philosophy and art with observation and experiments. And Leonardo was the first important representative of it. Leonardo di ser Piero da Vinci(1453-1519) Da Vinci had intense interest of science, philosophy and arts. For him, making paintings is not just an art, also a science to search the answers of nature's secrets. Outstanding color, light and composition usage shows that he observed human, nature and space very well. After lots of thinking of eyes, observing, light, colors and perspective, he understood that he needs to learn optic discipline to get the perspective knowledge that he needs to draw. This understanding took him opportunity more than he needed, later he becam...

Hi, I mentioned how to make pickles in another blog before. Btw, my favorite is gherkins. Today, my mum is making pickles for the winter, and I wanted to share it with you. Let's see what she did in the kitchen few hours ago. Beforehand, she had bought pickle ingredients. She knows what is better for what. She came home and started to make it. Firstly, she started with washing the gherkins. While mom was cleaning the gherkins, my grandmother was peeling off the garlic. She sliced four lemons into quarters. Then, put gherkins neatly in the jar. While putting, she put lemons and garlic between each layer until the jar is full. On the other hand, she mixed rock salt,  vinegar, lemon salt and water and poured into the jar. She put the jar cool, dry and dark place. We will eat it after a month. Here is the pickles mom made it today. Our dear pickle, please be ferment quickly...

Heimatlos People's Lives Be Like

Have you ever heard of the word heimatlos? It comes from German to all languages. Do you have an opinion about its meaning? It means homeless, stateless in German. The first time I ever heard this word was yesterday. While I was talking about peculiar words at breakfast, my mom said a strange word to me. She said that they called a homeless person while recording them in documents in the prison as heimatlos. As my mom works in a prison, she knows these types of words, especially used for fierce criminals who are stripped of citizenship. What do you think about heimatlos people? Of course, their lives wouldn't be as easy as ours. They don't have an ID card, so it is hard to use the facilities of the state. You can't enter the system without an ID card. Such as hospitals, prisons, banks, etc.  As they don't have an ID, they are not able to save their children to documents, and it is a big problem in prisons, if the prisoner has to go to the hospital urgently, the state ta...

What Is Placebo Effect?

When we are sick or feel sick, we go to the doctors and hope they find a cure for us. Even if the doctors say that you are not sick, we try to convince the doctor if we believe this from the beginning. If you are very stubborn, he may agree to give you medicine. You will be very happy that you can finally be treated, and you are eagerly waiting to get the medicine right away. Then you get the medicine and feel better, sometimes suddenly. Do you think the doctor really gave you the medicine? The placebo effect is the perception that a person can heal themselves when they take a medicine, even though it has no proven therapeutic effect for their sickness. Placebo word comes from the Latin word "I will please" (I will relieve it from sicknesses), medicine and treatment are called a placebo on their own. Placebos have been showing to work in over 30% of patients, so doctors have been using them for years. In fact most of the time, placebos are the only thing doctor ca...
