Enormously Miniature
Today we started to make ceramic pots in Bilsem. I had made them before too. So i was familiar with it. I am going to draw miniatures on it. I also like doing miniatures and border decorations (tezhip), and had done before. Today I will give you some information about miniatures' history, making, examples etc.
Before we step into the details, you have to understand what is miniature. Miniature is a traditional painting art with a very finely processed, small sized and unique painting technique. It's made for to support the text to clarify the subject in manuscripts. The people who make this art are called Nakkaş. Miniatures are very small in size because they are applied to depict people and events for visualize texts in books. In this art, the rules of lighting, proportion and perspective aren't applied mostly. Distance is ignored. The person or place that is important in miniature is drawn in larger and more detailed way compared to other things. There is a lot of detail in miniature, colors do not have to be used realistically. The colors used are generally vibrant and bright. Gold and silver color is very common.
Miniature has been known in the East and West for a long time. It is thought that the miniature first appeared in East and then spreaded to West. Eastern and Western miniatures are almost similar in form. But there are differences between them in usage of the colors and figures. The edges of the eastern miniatures are often decorated with ornamentation called tezhip (gold ornament). Here are the some famous miniatures.
Now I must do my other homework, for now, Bye Bye👋
