South Korea Tour Part 2 | My To-Go List
In previous blog, I wrote some of my favorite places in South Korea, today we will look five more of them.
The National Museum of Korea (국립중앙박물관)
If you want to learn about the history of the country, you should visit the National Museum. The museum was established in 1945 and is located next to the Yongsan Family Park. On the first floor of the museum, collections from the prehistoric period to the early modern era are exhibited. The second floor has calligraphy and painting. The third floor belongs to sculptures and handicrafts. You can find works from Korea, Central Asia, China and Japan.
Gangnam (강남구)
Gangnam, south of the Han River, is one of Seoul's most popular destinations. Filled with skyscrapers and shopping areas, Gangnam draws everyone's attention with its sparkling nightlife atmosphere. In Gangnam, which Psy mentions in his song Gangnam Style, even the underground subway station is full of shops. After leaving the Gangnam Station Underground Shopping Center, you can dance on the Gangnam Style stage.
Gwangjang Market (광장시장)
Gwangjang Market, the first regularly established market in the country, opened in 1905. The other part of the market, which split into two in 1965, continues as Dongdaemun. Couples who are about to get married come to this market to buy gifts for their families. You can also find traditional dishes and authentic things here.
Lotte World (롯데월드)
Entering the Guinness Book of Records as the world's largest indoor theme park, the facility includes entertainment places, a hotel, a shopping mall, a museum, an aquarium and many restaurants. Also, the 6 star Seoul Sky, which hosts Lotte World Mall, is also located here.
Dongdaemun Design Plaza(DDP-동대문디자인플라자)
The neofuturistic cultural complex Dongdaemun Design Plaza, built by world-famous architect Zaha Hadid, was built between 2011 and 2014 on the site of the stadium from the Japanese occupation of the city. The building, which was created using aluminum and concrete, includes galleries, event spaces and design shops.
